Although the original sunscreen was overrated IMO, I’d like to understand the hype behind the brand’s sunscreen. Comparison: NEW Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-fresh Rice + B5 sunscreen VERSUS OLD Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen

Inevitably, comparisons will arise between this new Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-fresh Rice + B5 sunscreen versus the original Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen which was very well received when it launched. Having tried both, let me break down the key similarities and differences:

Similarities between new and old Beauty of Joseon sunscreens

• Both are are SPF 50+, PA ++++ sunscreens

• Both contain new generation UV filters

• Both have relatively thin consistencies and light weight finishes

Differences between new and original Beauty of Joseon sunscreens

• New sunscreen does not leave a white cast on my skin compared to the old version, likely due to the removal of Tinosorb M UV filter

• The new Beauty of Joseon sunscreen has a thinner, more watery consistency

• Finish for the new sunscreen is matte with no cosmetic coverage, the older sunscreen gave a dewy, velvet like finish

• New sunscreen is less moisturising than the old sunscreen.

My verdict on Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-fresh Rice + B5 sunscreen

• Comparing the new VS old Beauty of Joseon sunscreens, I prefer the new Beauty of JoseonRelief Sun Aqua-fresh Rice + B5 sunscreen as it has a thinner consistency and did not leave a white cast on me like the original • The new Beauty of Joseon sunscreen is a decent, affordable sunscreen- it offers high and broad UV protection with new generation UV filters and a light weight consistency that would be comfortable in Singapore’s humid weather

• No cosmetic coverage, but layers well with makeup with no pilling for me • It is very similar to another cult favourite sunscreen that I’ve reviewed in 2022 Review: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturising Sunscreen– not surprising since both sunscreens were produced by same contract manufacturer
