For skin imperfections like pigmentation, pores, wrinkles and scars
Correcting skin imperfections like pigmentation, pores, wrinkles and scars have never been easier and faster with laser. With the rapid advancements in laser technology, we have seen the arrival of newer and safer laser technologies over the last two decades. One of the tried and tested laser technologies that is used to treat pigmentation, pores and dull skin is the Q-switch laser. It is best known for its all round skin rejuvenating benefits for benefits for brighter and more radiant looking skin. Fractional CO2 laser is another laser resurfacing treatment used to treat acne scars, pores and wrinkles. Fractional CO2 laser is also regarded as the gold standard treatment for acne scars and pores and works by stimulating collagen synthesis in the skin and remodelling existing collagen fibres in the skin for long term results.
Q-switch laser technology is the workhorse in most aesthetic dermatology clinics for its ability to treat a wide range of skin types without incurring any down time for patients. The Q-switch laser is combined with chemical peels for best results.
Q-switch laser can help to:
Fractional CO2 Laser treats acne scars, keloid scars, stretch marks, pores and wrinkles. Fractional CO2 laser causes skin tighten and stimulates new collagen formation to reduce the depth and severity of acne scars, keloid scars and stretch marks. It also rejuvenates aged skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and shrink pores.
In aesthetic dermatology, fractional CO2 is regarded as the gold standard for treating acne scars and pores.
Lasers do not result in sensitive skin. Fractional CO2 laser however, may result in transient skin sensitivity when the skin is being resurfaced. This may last for a few days and is reversible. Q-switch laser, does not result in increased skin sensitivity.
Q-switch Laser is absorbed by pigmentation particles in the skin (e.g. acne marks, sun spots, freckles, melasma etc) and is broken up into smaller fragments for the body to clear and lighten pigmentation. The Q-switch laser also has additional benefits of brightening skin and stimulating new collagen formation for younger looking skin.
Yes you can. One of my favourite recommendations is combining the Q-switch laser with chemical peels for exfoliation and pigmentation lightening for increased skin brightening, radiance, cleaner skin and even lighter pigmentation. You can also combine the Q-switched laser with other treatments such as Botox, fillers and threadlifts to treat wrinkles and sagging for synergistic anti-aging results.
None at all with the Q-switched laser. The Q-switched laser is favourite among my patients and is also known as the lunchtime laser or red carpet laser because it gives good results very quickly without causing any downtime.
Short fractions of the CO2 laser light infiltrate the dermis of the skin and gets converted into heat energy to resurface the skin and stimulate new collagen formation for skin rejuvenation. This helps to reduce the depth of scars, shrink pores, tighten and rejuvenate skin.
After cleansing and numbing the skin, the Fractional CO2 laser is performed on the face/neck. The entire treatment procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes. Lastly, a calming face mask is applied to reduce redness.
There will be transient facial redness, dryness and scabbing for 3 to 5 days. This is reversible and appropriate skincare is advised. You can resume your work and daily activities after your Fractional CO2 laser.
