Is Skinbooster by Juvederm Better than Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser?

Is Skinbooster by Juvederm Better than Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser?

Welcome to the era of glass skin with Singapore’s newest injectable moisturiser, Skinbooster by Juvederm.

WHAT IS Skinbooster by Juvederm

Skinbooster by Juvederm is a newly launched injectable moisturiser that improves skin hydration, smoothness, and fine wrinkles in Singapore. Prior to its launch in Singapore in October 2024, Skinbooster by Juvederm had already received US FDA approval in May 2023 for improving facial skin smoothness in the cheeks for at least six months, an impressive feat in my opinion.

Containing hyaluronic acid, Skinbooster by Juvederm leverages upon the moisture-attracting benefits of hyaluronic acid to increase hydration in the dermis and improve skin texture. Skinbooster by Juvederm also improves skin quality by plumping the dermis from within and increasing collagen fibres in the skin. These properties make Skinbooster by Juvedermis particularly helpful for patients with dull, dehydrated skin. However, for those with normal skin and want to improve fine lines, rough texture, or overall skin appearance without adding fullness, Skinbooster by Juvederm can be part of the treatment options for younger looking skin.

BENEFITS OF Skinbooster by Juvederm

Hold on, don’t Skinbooster by Juvederm, Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser and PDRN Skinbooster? If these treatments also come to mind, that’s because Skinbooster by Juvederm is also an injectable hydrating treatment like the aforementioned. The benefits of injectable moisturisers containing hyaluronic acid -for hydrating the skin and treating signs of ageing by improving brightness, firmness, fine lines and pore size- are backed by studies and clinical trials1-5.

All these treatments including Skinbooster by Juvederm involve intradermal injection of hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump the skin. However, Skinbooster by Juvederm has certain unique constituents and benefits that set it apart from the rest of these injectable moisturisers.

What are the benefits of Skinbooster by Juvederm treatments?

HOW DOES Skinbooster by Juvederm DIFFER FROM THE OTHER SKINBOOSTERS?

Skinbooster by Juvederm contains consists of:

• Hyaluronic acid 12 mg/mL

• 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl (BDDE). These are cross links which increase the stability and lengthen the effects of hyaluronic acid6.

• Lidocaine to reduce pain during injections Not all injectable moisturisers available in Singapore contain cross links and lidocaine; and the type of,concentrations and sources of hyaluronic acid can differ across different brands of Skinboosters, Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser and the like.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF Skinbooster by Juvederm?

The benefits of Skinbooster by Juvederm injections are similar to the repertoire of injectable moisturisers currently available in Singapore such as3,7-10:

• Increased skin hydration • Improved skin smoothness

• Reduced fine lines

*note that the majority of these studies quoted were partially funded or sponsored by Allergan, the manufacturers ofSkinbooster by Juvederm11.

In a European post-marketing study, Skinbooster by Juvedermbeen found to water increase channels called aquaporins across skin cells12. Our skin naturally contains aquaporins to regulate water balance and multiple aspects of skin biology13. When aquaporins in the skin were increased, skin hydration and moisture barrier were improved13.

Skinbooster by Juvederm is  approved for treating patients with all types of skin colour (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI). Treating skin quality and conditions like fine wrinkles and pores due to collagen and elastin decline in patients with darker skin can be challenging due to the risks of hyperpigmentation from energy based  treatments. Skinbooster by Juvederm represents a safe and effective treatment option for patients with darker skin, especially in multi-ethnic Singapore.

Skinbooster by Juvederm vs Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser: the differences

Skinbooster by Juvederm VS Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser: WHICH IS BETTER?

Given the similarities of Skinbooster by JuvedermVS Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser, inevitably comparisons will arise between Skinbooster by Juvederm and Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser, another popular injectable moisturiser in Singapore. Both Skinbooster by Juvederm and Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser have overlapping similarities in their biochemistry and effects. However, differences in the makeup between Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser and Skinbooster by Juvederm also give different outcomes:

Injection techniques

Skinbooster by Juvederm’s injection point involves many small intradermal microdroplets; compared to the standard bio-aesthetic bolus injections for Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser. Skinbooster by Juvederm also contains lidocaine, a numbing agent. What I found to be consistent in my patients who had Skinbooster by Juvederm injections with me is that the sensation of pain was remarkably lesser compared to Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser injections, and this was affirmed by my patients who had both Skinbooster by Juvederm and Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser injections done before.

Concentrations and recommended treatment amounts

Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser has a hyaluronic acid concentration than Skinbooster by Juvederm, which may translate into increased skin hydration for Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser compared to Skinbooster by Juvederm. However, the recommended injection amounts for Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser (2ml) and Skinbooster by Juvederm (3ml) for each session also takes into account this shortfall for Skinbooster by Juvederm. I have also found that Skinbooster by Juvederm’s thinner consistency compared to Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser also gives good spreadibility. In my anecdotal experience, the multiple injection sites for Skinbooster by Juvederm leads to improved glow, radiance in the first week- faster than Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser.

Stabilising technology

One of Hybrid Cooperative Complex Injectable Moisturiser’s unique properties is that it does not contain BDDE cross links. Instead, the high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid are stabilised using the brand’s NAHYCO technology. In Skinbooster by Juvederm, the hyaluronic acid complexes ares stabilised with BDDE cross links.

Conclusion on Skinbooster by Juvederm in Singapore

In closing, Skinbooster by Juvederm launch in Singapore is a welcome new addition to the range of injectable moisturisrs already available. I definitely see the strengths of Skinbooster by Juvederm, and I’m excited to introduce this treatment to my practice in Singapore.
