I Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 and Skinboosters 水光针 are two skin boosting and skin healing treatments that improve skin hydration, pores, and texture that remain extremely popular in Singapore. One of the most FAQ I encounter ; what is the difference between Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 vs Skinboosters 水光针. To add to this confusion, some clinics have also minted the term “Rejuran Skinboosters” to describe Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 and other Rejuran Healer related skin treatments. To make things clear, this blog post will discuss the differences between Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 vs Skinbooster 水光针.
Rejuran Healer is a non-invasive skin rejuvenating and anti-aging skin treatment that originated from South Korea. Rejuran Healer is also popularly known as ‘Baby Skinboosters’; ‘PDRN therapy’; ‘婴儿针’ and ’少奴针’.
What is most interesting about Rejuran Healer 婴儿针is its active ingredient: polynucleotides (PN). Polynucleotides are fragments of DNA and polynucleotides have been used for healing and repair of damaged skin and stimulate collagen formation in numerous medical treatments including the healing of skin ulcers and even hair loss.

Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 provides the following benefits when injected into the skin:
1. Reverses signs of aging e.g. reduces fine lines and wrinkles. 2. Smoother, more elastic and firmer skin texture due to enhanced collagen formation and repair from damage due to sun exposure, free radicals, aging etc. 3. Improve overall skin health and recovery from injuries 4. Better skin hydration and improved skin barrier function 5. Smaller pores and reduced depth of depressed acne scars due to increased collagen levels in the skin.
Interestingly, Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 works by at least 5 different mechanisms- and you can read all the details in my blogpost on Rejuran Healer here. In summary:

Inflammation in the body is not desirable because inflammation inevitably generates free radicals. Free radicals damage cell DNA, proteins, collagen, cell membranes…etc. Our bodies have an inbuilt defense mechanism to protect against free radical damage: our antioxidant reserves. Examples of antioxidants are vitamin C and glutathione.

The polynucleotides in are derived from salmon through a very sterile and rigorous purification process. Polynucleotides are sometimes also referred to as polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) and hence sometimes, you might come across Rejuran Healer being referred to as ‘Korean PDRN’. PDRN is a subtype of polynucleotides and Rejuran Healer contains both polynucleotides and PDRN.
This is what a syringe of Rejuran Healer looks like. I am using a very fine and short needle to inject this manually into a patient’s skin.
Rejuran Healer 婴儿针 is injected into the skin; to allow the polynucleotides to act on the deeper skin cells to bring about skin repair, healing, rejuvenation and collagen formation.
Rejuran Healer 婴儿针can be injected either using an injector or manually using a needle. For both methods, the face is first numbed before injecting Rejuran Healer.
All the major brands of Skinboosters I use in my clinic. From top to bottom: (first) Restylane Skinboosters Vital; (2nd) Juvederm Volite; (3rd) Teosyal Redensity 1; (4th) Revanesse Pure; (5th) Rejuran HB.
Skinbooster 水光针 is another non-invasive skin treatment that has been around earlier than Rejuran Healer. Skinboosters 水光针 still remain popular because of their superior skin hydrating and brightening benefits.
Skinboosters is also known as 水光针 and originated from South Korea. The dewy and luminous complexion of numerous Korean celebrities have been attributed to Skinboosters 水光针.This is why Skinboosters 水光针 remains in hot demand and has undergone countless advancements.
Skinboosters 水光针 also has a role in the treatment of depressed acne scars. Skinboosters can build collagen in the skin (just like Rejuran Healer) to lift the scars. With all these similarities between Skinboosters vs Rejuran Healer; it is easy to see why there is so much confusion between both treatments.
What one syringe of Skinboosters 水光针 looks like
Skinboosters 水光针 work on the principle of deep skin hydration or hydration from within. Where topical moisturisers or serums have failed to keep the skin adequately moisturised and hydrated, Skinboosters 水光针 is very helpful solution for dry skin and for general maintenance of skin hydration by locking in hydration and moisture within the skin. Skin hydration is crucial for maintain normal skin health and appearance. Without adequate skin hydration, dehydrated skin is dry, flaky and easily irritated. Dehydrated skin can worsen congestion (the formation of comedones i.e. blackheads and whiteheads) and acne.

Patients who had Skinboosters 水光针 also noticed that they enjoyed additional benefits to their skin-increased collagen levels in the skin, reduced wrinkles and fine lines and shallower depressed acne scars.

Skinboosters 水光针 involve injecting very small amounts of hyaluronic acid into the skin (as opposed to polynucleotides and PDRN for Rejuran Healer). You might have come across hyaluronic acid as an ingredient in your skincare. Hyaluronic acid is a popular ingredient for moisturisers and hydrating serums due to their superior hydrating abilities. Hyaluronic acid has been shown to draw water molecules up to 200x its weight. In fact, hyaluronic acid is also a common ingredient in dermal fillers used to sculpt the face because hyaluronic acid helps to add volume to the face where the facial features require enhancement (e.g. nose fillers) or where the face looks sunken (e.g. cheek fillers and temple fillers).

The mechanism that Skinboosters 水光针 work by is different compared to Rejuran Healer.
Hyaluronic acid injected into the skin as Skinboosters 水光针draws water into the deeper part of the skin called the dermis. This keeps the dermis hydrated. When skin is adequately hydrated, skin is healthier and fine lines and wrinkles are erased due to the ‘plumping’ action from hyaluronic acid.
Secondly, Skinboosters 水光针 have also been found to stimulate formation of collagen and elastin fibres. With more collagen in the skin, skin also looks and feels younger. Why our skin looks and feels thinner, saggy and drier as we age is due to loss of collagen and elastin fibres in our skin. Hence, Skinboosters 水光针counteract the aging process by replacing lost collagen and plumping up the skin for firmer, thicker and more hydrated skin.
The ‘plumping’ action of Skinboosters 水光针水光针and the new collagen formation kickstarted by Skinboosters 水光针also help to reduce the depth of depressed acne scars.
**Newer forms of Skinboosters水光针 like Teosyal Redensity 1 have made improvements to traditional, older forms of Skinboosters 水光针like Restylane Vitale. What is the difference between the older and newer forms of Skinboosters水光针? The original Skinboosters 水光针contained only hyaluronic acid for deep skin hydration and collagen boosting in the skin. Examples of Skinboosters that contain only hyaluronic acid are Restylane Vitale, Juvederm Volite and Revanasse Pure. The newer forms of Skinboosters have improved the formulation of Skinboosters水光针 to include antioxidants, vitamins and amino acids for additional skin brightening and antioxidant protection against free radical damage and aging. One of my favourite such formulation is Teosyal Redensity 1 (Teosyal RD I) because the additional benefits of skin brightening on top of the skin hydration are well liked by my patients and myself.
*Personalised ‘Skinbooster Cocktails’ is something that I do in my clinic. What it means is that I also add in additional active ingredients into the Skinbooster vial before injecting the Skinbooster cocktail into the skin. Depending on the condition of your skin, I personalise this Skinbooster cocktail for you so that your results are enhanced. Since you are already having hyaluronic acid injected into your skin, why not make it better for yourself?
For example, patients with large pores and fine lines will benefit greatly from a small dose of Botox to relax the muscles that control the pore size and erase fine lines in the skin.Patients who desire skin lightening and even greater antioxidant protection, additional vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and glutathione (yes, the same stuff in whitening or skin lightening drips) are very effective. I also add in extra PDRN or PN (same ingredient in Rejuran Healer 婴儿针) for anti-aging benefits.
Both Skinboosters 水光针 and Skinboosters Cocktail can be injected using an injector machine or by hand.
Now that we have covered the differences between Rejuran Healer vs Skinboosters, let us next discuss ‘Rejuran Skinboosters’ which has confused many of my patients.
‘Rejuran Skinboosters’ is a term that has been recently coined in Singapore to indicate either of these things:
1) Rejuran Healer 2) Rejuran HB
Confusing at the best and misleading at the worst, Rejuran Healer has been mislabelled and misrepresented as a type of Skinbooster. As the table above has shown, Rejuran Healer is different from Skinboosters.
Rejuran HB, a variant of Rejuran Healer, is possibly the closest form of combination of Skinboosters and Rejuran Healer. Rejuran HB contains both hyaluronic acid (similar to Skinboosters) and 1% polynucleotides (as compared to 2% nucleotides in Rejuran HB). This gives Rejuran HB both the deep skin hydrating benefit of Skinboosters and the skin repairing and anti-inflammatory strengths of Rejuran HB.
Yes you can choose to combine Rejuran Healer and Skinboosters to enhance skin hydration, skin repair, pore closure, anti-aging and skin brightening benefits. One of the main reasons this combination of Rejuran Healer and Skinboosters is chosen over Rejuran HB (“Rejuran Skinboosters”) is that the concentration of polynucleotides and PDRN in Rejuran Healer is double that of Rejuran HB so the anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and skin healing benefits are greater with Rejuran Healer compared to Rejuran HB.
